Who You Are- Body Image

It's closing in on 1:15 A.M. right now & I can't sleep. I'm going to write this post instead.
I'm sure you've all heard about the media and how they perpetuate this ideal of beauty that is unrealistic and does not show-case the various differences in women all around the world. This is all very true. But I want to come at this from a different angle.

The media suck, yes. But the fact that they suck and we are aware of it is what's truly important here.
We know that what they show is false and unattainable. In light of that then, I want tell girls and dudes out there that what you think of yourself is ALL THAT MATTERS.

There are going to be people out there who are brainwashed into believing what the media says, and they are going to annoy you. I know they annoy the hell out of me. There are going to be people who may not want to be your friend, or date you because you don't fit an ideal. Did you really want someone so ignorant & stupid in your life anyways? Probably not. If all they're seeing you for is your exterior then they weren't worth YOUR presence to begin with. Do whatever you want for you.
I watched a documentary recently, and several "What Guys Look For In Girls" Youtube videos, and they've just opened my mind to how overly opinionated we all are. I have no place to say what someone else should do with their bodies, as no-one has a right to say what I do with mine.

Regardless of how you look if you want to wear extensions, straighten your hair, dye your hair, wear long fake nails, wear makeup or not, pull all your teeth out and replace them with gold teeth, go ahead. I mean you're living with your decisions, not me.

If you feel good about the things if you've done & if your decisions make you happy, pertaining to your physical appearance: more power to you. It's wrong to judge others, or think that anyone needs to change who they are to fit your (or any) standards. If you don't like girls in converse, well damn...guess we can't get married then. Oh well.

  3. I hear you!! People/the media/whatever can only make you feel bad about yourself with your consent! I said to people on FB a while ago, If looking at photos of these airbrushed women upsets you, then don't! Don't buy the magazines or buy into it! & most importantly think about other things - how you look is not the most important thing in the world - who you are as a person is! & being beautiful does not mean you have an easier or happier life!
Btw thanks for commenting on my blog, lovely! I'm following you now & would love it if you followed me!

  5. This is exactly what I am doing my coursework on. I find the whole concept interesting and eye opening. You have the right idea with that it is no ones place to judge someone on how they want to look - so true! Followed on gfc! PS. hope you get an earlier night soon!

  8. This is such a smart text :) You're right! We should all worry about getting comfortable with ourselves, instead of wonder what others think about us!

Ha this says it all.. Too many times young girls want almost get drowned in the perspective of how society want them dress, wait it might just be what men want, but guess what men are different, you can't keep changing, so do you, the right guy will fall like crazy when he meets your style and you.
    Great Post Leah

  18. Great post! I love the cute drawings too.

I don't think it's very easy for most people to accept who they are and what they look like, we are all very self critical and analyse ourselves way too much, we notice things and get hung up on things that other people don't even know are there most of the time!

People will ALWAYS judge others but they will also always judge themselves even more.
