You're gunna hear me roar!

I know we all find ourselves, at times, wishing to be someone else. Or live another life than the one we're living. I'm no stranger to this.
It's easy to look at someone elses situation & think man that's amazing, I wish I was there. Or, I wish I was with this person, or something of the sort. But by doing this I've learnt two things:

1) Everything is not always what it seems
2) I may not be living their lives but I'm the only one who is now, or ever will live mine.

Trippy, eh?

I just moved away from home to a new city where I don't know anyone, and I have met some very lovely people but I do wish that I was a bit more extroverted like some other people around here. It always blows my mind, how people can make friends so quickly, and so many at a time. Yes, I wish I was like some other people, but at the same time I need to realize.. I'm not & never will be.

Hey, I'm not perfect but damn, I'm the only me there is or ever will be right? :)

And I want you, YES YOU, reading this to know the same thing. Stop wishing to be other people, you're the only you here & you have a purpose. You can make your life whatever you want it to be.

"Everything has a purpose, clocks tell you the time, trains take you places. I'd imagine the world as one big machine. Machines never come with any extra parts, you know. They always come with the exact amount you need. So I figured if the entire world was one big machine...I couldn't be an extra part. I had to be here for some reason. And that means you have to be here for some reason, too."- Hugo.

  1. That's a lovely post :) Such a positive message. I'm glad you're challenging yourself, but are able to stay true to who you are - I find that one of the hardest things ever, actually :) Good job

  3. I agree with everything you said. Isn't perfect even a little bit boring? And even if we think, oh that person is perfect, there might be unknown stories or hidden secrets, fears and inner struggles that make this person not perfect at all- EVERYONE fights battles, one's are just bigger than the other one's.

  8. The quote at the end was just amazing! This entire post is lovely and something I struggle with often - comparing or wanting to be someone else. The way I see it - you are who you are for a reason... you just gotta find out what that reason is and embrace it. I've always wanted to be loud and confident and bubbly instead of quiet or reserved and I remember having a conversation with someone who was like 'you're so humble, calm and have such a quiet confidence about you' and I was like whaaaat? Haha! I guess a lot of it is also about perspective too :)

  16. Hey Leah,
What a great and inspiring post! I totally have the same feeling of wanting to be someone else and wondering why I can't be like so and so... but you're right. There's only one me and one you and don't we just have to learn to love and accept who and what we are? :)

  28. Very inspirational, really love the message. I used to have a social anxiety problem but I found the best way to get over it was just to throw myself into multiple social situations and it's so much easier to meet people now. I find usually doing what scares the shit out of me makes me evolve so much better and faster.

  30. Great post!!! I agree. I wish I was more outgoing sometimes. I see people who act how I wish I could act but my insecurities always get the better of me. While I agree that we shouldn't wish to live someone else life but our own instead. I feel that we have it in us to lead the lives we want to lead. It's all about going out of our comfort zone. It may be harder for us as introverts to step out of our bubbles but we don't have to resign ourselves to always being that way. We can change. :)

  32. Love this so much. I definitely needed to hear this at this exact moment. I'll be starting a new college semester next week and I'm scared about meeting new people. I agree so much with sometimes wanting to trade lives with other people but I force myself to think the same way: that I shouldn't waste time living through someone else's life when I have my own that is waiting to be lived! :)

  38. What a beautiful post ! I absolutely loved it. Everything you wrote here is so true.
Everyone is different and we all have our qualities and flaws but we are who we are and we should not wish we were an other person because everyone meets problems in his life...
Instead of wishing we were someone else we just have to be us, to be true and to do what we want to do with our lives.

    Love your thoughts !
